This exciting event is perfect for new and beginner dancers looking to showcase what they've learned, have fun, and compete for a little extra cash in a friendly atmosphere. Join us for an evening of lively country progressive two step and line dancing, all while helping to raise funds for Dallas Does Dance's mission.

Prizes

Two Step

  • First Place Couple: Each dancer will receive a medal and $80
  • Runner Up Couple: Each dancer will receive $40

Line Dance

  • First Place: 1 dancer will receive a medal and $80
  • Runner Up: 1 dancer will receive $40

Progressive Two Step

Two divisions

  • Newcomer Random Partner
  • Open Novice

Special Rules

  • Progressive Two Step is defined as QQSS
  • A dancer can enter one or multiple divisions, such that they meet the criteria for the division(s)
  • No lifts or aerials in any division (see Definitions)

Details

  • Max Dancers: 40 individuals across all divisions
  • Heats: Max 5 couples per heat - heats will be divided evenly
  • Dance Style: Progressive Two Step (QQSS)

Line Dance

One division

  • Novice

Special Rules

  • Dancers may sign up individually
  • The song will be selected by Dallas Does Dance and announced when registration opens - every dancer will dance to the full length of the selected song
  • The designated step sheet and video will be provided with the song during registration to ensure everyone is doing the same version
  • [This rule has been removed as of July 15, 2025] The first 2 walls must be danced “plain vanilla” as prescribed in the provided step sheet - after the first 2 walls, the dancer may add their own styling and variation as long as it remains within the general flow of the dance

  • Max Dancers: 45 individuals across all divisions
  • Heats: Max 15 individuals per heat (3 rows of 5 dancers) - heats will be divided evenly
  • Step Sheet: The designated step sheet and video demo will be provided on the online registration page at the opening of registration (see rules)

    Dance Style: Progressive Two Step

    Level: Newcomer

     

    For first-timers and beginners only (see rules). Dancers sign up individually as a Lead or Follow. Partners will be randomized at the start of each heat. Each heat will dance to the first 2 minutes of two random songs selected by Dallas Does Dance (same two songs per heat).

  • Couples Open Novice

    Dance Style: Progressive Two Step

    Level: Novice

     

    For beginner and novice dancers (see rules). Dancers sign up as a couple. Each couple will dance to the same song(s) as selected by event coordinators and announced at the opening of registration.

    Level: Novice

     

    A beginner or improver level line dance will be selected by Dallas Does Dance and announced at registration. Dancers sign up as individuals. Each dancer will dance the full length of the same song (see rules).
